Proper skin care is important any time, but it’s particularly important if you’re dealing with acne. One of the “secrets” to controlling an acne problem is to keep your skin as healthy as you can. This includes keeping it clean and avoiding things like sunshine and harsh cosmetics that can damage the skin.

Cleaning Your Skin

Use a specialized skin cleanser or a gentle soap daily, according to the directions. Don’t scrub your face as this can aggravate acne and actually make the problem worse.

Moisten your face with a soft cloth and apply the cleaner to your skin, from your hairline to your neck. Rinse it with plenty of water and dry your face by patting it with a soft towel (again, avoid scrubbing it dry).

If you have oily skin you may need to use an astringent, however do so with care. Only use it on problem

spots and stop if it irritates your skin. If you think you may need to use an astringent, you should consult with your dermatologist first.

Hair care is also related to acne and skin care. Shampoo your hair regularly and do your best to keep it off your face. If your hair is oily, it can lead to acne if not kept clean and away from your face.

Sun Protection

It has long been thought that exposure to the sun can help acne, but this isn’t really the case. The sun can dry out your skin and a tan can make your acne less obvious, but it’s really a temporary solution.

Once your skin acclimatizes itself to the sun, your acne will return plus the sun exposure carries other risks such as skin cancer.

Some acne treatments can also make your skin more sensitive to the sun, and in turn more likely to burn. You should always wear sunscreen when you’re out in the sun, whether you’re dealing with acne or not.

Makeup & Cosmetics

Ideally, wearing no makeup is the best choice but if that isn’t an option be sure to choose a makeup that won’t clog your pores.

These cosmetic products are labeled as noncomedogenic, although some people may still have problems when using them. Be sure you choose makeups that don’t use an oil base. Read the ingredients before choosing anything.

Shaving

There is no hard and fast rule when choosing between electric razors and safety razors. Some people will find one more comfortable, some with find the other.

If you choose to use safety razors, don’t shave with dull blades. You might have to shave around serious acne lesions, and make sure you soften your beard with water and shaving cream before you shave.

If you’re having a particular bad day with acne breakouts, it’s probably best to skip shaving altogether.

Avoid Touching Your Skin

It’s tempting to squeeze pimples, but don’t give in! It can lead to more serious problems because squeezing them can cause the bacteria that causes acne to spread. It can also cause permanent scarring in some cases.

It’s also a good idea to avoid touching your face because your hands tend to be dirty and oily and they can spread germs.

When it comes to becoming beautiful, one of the major concerns would be having that flawless, fair skin. The skin is one of the things that a person notices first aside from the hair. So one thing’s certain, a thorough skin care process or tips is essential in maintaining its sightly feature.

Nowadays, you just can’t have that flawless beautiful skin when you have no money - well, that’s what some people point out. But that is disputable! Some beauty industries claim that to be able to achieve that point of degree on your skin, you have to undergo an expensive and a time-consuming process. And yes it’s true, you can spend as much dollars as you want if you really aim to have that flawless skin in a matter of days or minutes. But it’s never a truth that you can’t have that kind of skin if you don’t spend money. You just have to be more patient though.

Well here are very easy and absolutely inexpensive steps to maintaining the glow and beauty of our skin, specifically our faces:

a) First and the most common step is to identify your skin type. You may find it hard to distinguish your skin type at first glance but this should not worry you. There are only three skin types - the oily skin, the dry skin, and the combination of both. Actually, you don’t need an expert to identify it for you. You, yourself can identify it by studying closely the ares of your skin. This is a step to aid you in choosing the right skin care product for you.

b) Make sure that before washing your face, you are going to use clean hands. Washing hands thoroughly before cleaning the face is important. Your hands can be exposed to thousands of germs and it can easily get trapped to your face when you use your hands for wiping the sweat on your forehead or the excessive oils on your cheeks and nose.

c) Based on the type of skin you have, wash your face at least twice a day. Or if you have a more sensitive or oily skin, you need to wash or thrice a day. Make sure that you have with you the right skin care product or facial cleanser. Never apply anything that is not suitable to your skin type because it may cause irritation and may worsen your skin problem. Gently lather the facial cleanser in a circular motion and never scrub it using your nails or other things that can be used to scrub it. Just use your hands to clean your face and rinse the cleanser or soap off. Use a clean towel and tap it gently onto your skin to dry.

d) The kind of water to use for rinsing can also be as essential as choosing the right skin care product for you. You need to use tap water, or tepid water to clean your face. Some say, cold water is more advisable to make you skin feel more relaxed. But cold water cannot clean your skin fully as warm water can. So does hot water as this kind of water can only make your skin dry.

e) Never forget to use a moisturizer. This will help maintain the balance of oil to your skin, and can be very helpful especially to those that have dry skin. Be generous in applying the amount to your skin.

f) Eat the right amount of food. Plenty of fruits and vegetables to the diet can help maintain healthy skin.

g) There are also those who have really sensitive skin. So if these steps won’t work for you, try to consult your dermatologist.

Considering those tips above, you can be sure that you will have a healthy, fair, and beautiful skin in the end. Just see to it that you follow each step carefully. And then you will see that having that flawless, pretty skin can be that cheap.

It has always been one of our aims to ensure that we are taking in foods that are nutritious enough to take care of our skin. These foods are those that contribute to making our skin healthier and fairer. Advices say that the least wordy way in keeping a nutritious, symmetrical diet, and in ensuring that the skin is receiving the best nutriment primarily from the foods one consumes is to stick with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Daily Food Guide, or most known as the food pyramid.

Basically, this food pyramid is the one that details what kind of food is needed for the body to help maintain its vim and vigor. Comprising this food pyramid guide are as follows:

  • whole grain breads, cereals, crackers, rice, or pasta - should be chosen carefully and should be eaten with at least three ounces only(either of the above mentioned carbohydrates).
  • there should be an intake of a great variety of fruits and vegetables which includes more dark green and orange vegetables.
  • taking in calcium-rich foods (i.e. low-fat milk, butter, and other dairy products).
  • should prefer for an array of low-fat or lean meats, fish, and poultry.

According to Dr. Taylor, the foods urged by the USDA for a regular and healthy consumption contains essential vitamins and minerals that are proven to provide health benefits to the bodies. She added that the antioxidants in vitamins C and E can protect the skin from the harmful rays of the sun and can help abridge damage in skin cells which are commonly due to harmful, free radicals, thereby contributing to skin aging.

We all know that the biotin B vitamin has always been responsible in molding the basis of skin, hair and nail cells; while vitamin A on the other hand, which is mainly found in fruits and veggies, is responsible for the maintenance and repair of damaged skin tissues. And obviously, without an ample supply of these vitamins in the body, there is always an effect to the appearance of your skin, nails and hair.

Studies show that there is a positive correlation between the food and nutrient intake with skin crumpling, despite the absence of a thorough study regarding the absolute connection between food consumption and skin impairment. One study, published on February 2001 in one of the issues of the Journal of the American College of nutrition namely, “Skin wrinkling: Can Food Make a Difference?”, has identified some Swedish subjects aged 70 and older had the least skin scrunching in a sun-exposed site who are among the four ethnic groups that they’ve studied. The study implied that:

“subjects with a higher intake of vegetables, olive oil, and monounsaturated fat and legumes, but a lower intake of milk/dairy products, butter, margarine and sugar products had less skin wrinkling in a sun-exposed site.”

That was made as conclusion to their research.

Nevertheless, more studies are still needed to be done to accurately determine the lifetime benefits of proper intake of food to our skin. As Dr. Taylor had added, she said that it is much advisable to eat a variety of nutritious foods and consume or drink lots of water. “Drinking plenty of water so the skin stays hydrated should help most people improve the appearance of their skin,” Dr. Taylor quoted.

To sum it up, one should eat the right kind of food and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Lack of water in the body as well as imbalanced intake of food can contribute to skin dryness and impairment. Let’s be heedful enough in taking care of our skin.

Pimple — is a type of skin lesion that is caused by inflamed and/or obstructed pores. It usually begins in adolescence, when hormones start to rage. Along with producing major bodily changes like the appearance of a beard or breasts, those hormones can also produce thicker oil supply, the tiny ducts leading from the oil glands to the surface of the skin can become narrowed or clogged.

Most of us love to pop pimple in our faces, but others want to let it heal on their own to avoid scars. But who could blame us? As long as the pimple is there, it is tempting to touch and pop it’s white zit out. No worries, because there’s an easy and effective way of popping pimples without a scar.

  1. Disinfect a needle with rubbing alcohol. A basic sharp sewing needle is a good choice.
  2. Gently prick the pimple’s surface.
  3. Take two tissues and wrap your index fingers with them.
  4. Squeeze from the sides, confidently but gently, using a down-and-in motion. Don’t force it. If the pimple is ready, it’ll pop. If it doesn’t, leave it be. Be sure to stop if clear fluid or blood starts to come out.
  5. Continuing to work at a lesion that is not ready to be popped can lead to scarring. Walk away from the mirror!

I hope it helped!

Here comes the summer. Time to go outdoors and have fun, like going to the beach. During the summer months, UV radiation tends to be greater. This is the reason why some of us uses sunblock lotions in order to avoid sunburns and lower your risk of skin cancer.

How are we going to enjoy our summer without worrying about sunburn and skin cancer? May the following could be of big help to you.

    • Seek shade, especially during midday hours (10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), when UV rays are strongest and do the most damage.
    • Cover up with clothing to protect exposed skin.
    • Get a hat with a wide brim to shade the face, head, ears, and neck.
    • Grab shades that wrap around and block as close to 100% of both UVA and UVB rays as possible.
    • Rub on sunscreen with sun protective factor (SPF) 15 or higher, and both UVA and UVB protection.

Combining these sun protective actions helps protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays.

How do UV rays reach us, during cloudy and hazy days and even when we’re not under the heat of the sun? UV rays will also reflect off any surface like water, cement, sand, and snow. Additionally, UV rays from artificial sources of light, like tanning beds, cause skin cancer and should be avoided.

Many of the skin cancer victim were easily treated but why would we allow to have cancer, if we can protect ourselves against it? The best way to avoid skin cancer is to protect your skin from the sun.

    Enjoy your summer without Cancer.

facial.jpgFacial exfoliators and face masks are treatments that repair damage and keep your skin looking healthy. There are a number of natural treatments available, from haldi face masks to oatmeal scrubs. Many face masks and exfoliators can be made at home, using ingredients you already have on hand.

Facial exfoliators (or face scrubs) are skin treatments that scrub away the surface layer of skin. They are used in a similar way to a face cleanser, except it scrubs away the dead skin, instead of just cleaning off dirt. They remove dead skin cells, unblock pores and stimulate cell turnover.

Face masks are skin treatments that nourish and treat the skin. They are applied onto the skin and generally left for at least fifteen minutes, to give the ingredients in the face mask time to soak into the skin. They can hydrate the skin or can tighten pores and remove excess oil.

blood2.jpgEach blood type has different characteristics that allow it to eat, digest, and assimilate food best for that group. Since Os have been blessed with such strong stomach acid and respective enzymes, they are able to metabolize almost everything, even those foods not recommended for them. However, the Bs, As and ABs do not have this luxury, and accordingly, must be more careful in their eating habits, or suffer the consequences.

For example, if you eat a food not compatible with your blood type and stomach enzymes, the food is not broken down or digested properly, and the vitamins and minerals are not absorbed into your bloodstream to fuel and nourish your body. Your body reacts to the food just as it would any foreign substance. You might experience a stomach ache, gas, bloating, or even worse, vomiting or diarrhea.

If you are Type A or AB and the meat you keep eating is not metabolizing, your bloodstream is now flooded with thick, sticky agglutinated blood, loaded with saturated animal fat, just looking for a nice spot to deposit itself. It doesn’t take a genius IQ to see why As and ABs should not eat meat, and if they do, they die younger.

Now if O or B eat meat, their bodies metabolize it better, and the agglutination process does not take place, or if it does, it is very minor and not life threatening. Type Os, who usually completely metabolize meat and gain all the benefits from it (with the exception of pork) are at little or no risk. Further, since an O starts out with the thinnest blood, any agglutination that takes place will thicken the blood, but not to the extent experienced by the other blood types, or to a life threatening situation.

Take, for example, bread and white potatoes. If a Type O or Type A eats these foods, inblood.jpg most cases some agglutination takes place. However, since these foods contain little, if any fat, the body will not deposit the non-metabolized portion on the artery walls. It is more likely to store the unused food as fat. Hence, you gain weight. While this may be benevolent in the short run, eventually all this excess fat may lead to diabetes, high blood pressure or other illnesses.

Any food containing saturated fat has the greatest potential for harm to the body, in the long run, regardless of blood type. Saturated fat to Types A and AB is more dangerous in the short run because of the reasons stated previously. In the long run, even Types O and B, whose blood enzymes handle saturated fat better, are susceptible to the hazards. It just takes longer. So although Os and Bs are not particularly susceptible to heart disease and most forms of cancer, a continual regimen of saturated fat and/or incompatible foods will eventually produce the same result. It just appears the harmful effects take much longer in Os and Bs.

As the body grows older, it stops producing certain hormones, it loses muscle mass, bones become more brittle, immune function decreases, and the body’s intolerance of improper food begins to manifest itself in insidious ways.

But with proper diet, including nourishment from those foods and supplements specific to your needs, the chance of disease is greatly reduced. In fact, proper diet according to blood type, coupled with exercise, enables your immune system to be its strongest. A strong immune system can make the difference between a longer or shorter life span.

Does your skin looked dry and felt tight? Maybe your body most probably are dehydrated. Dehydration is the loss of water in the body, sometimes severe enough to cause shock since the human body is composed of seventy five percent water. To know how to deal with dry skin, you must know the causes of this dryness. Several factors like the environment, weather, health situation, or lifestyle is making the skin dry. Some of them are easily remedied which can be cureddry-skin.jpg quickly and others will take more time and effort.

Unfortunately, the moisturizers and treatments claiming to alleviate dry skin do nothing to cure it. To be able to correct dehydrated skin, a drastic change in lifestyle and environment is required.

What does a dehydrated skin feel like? Your skin tone is dull and pale. It is usually dry to the touch, itchy, with flaky patches and rough spots, and blotchy patches when you look in the mirror. The skin loses its elasticity wherein when you apply a bit of pressure on the skin, it does not revert back to its original state.

When you leave your skin dehydrated for a long period of time, keratinization (the deposition of keratin in cells occurring in the epidermis of the skin and structures in nails and hair, the cells become flattened and lose their nuclei) occurs. Take for example the feet. The skin on the bottom of your feet is subjected to much heat, friction and dirt. The dead skin cells that build up on the surface of your skin forms a coat covering it, making it nearly impossible for moisturizer to reach your skin. Your skin will further get dehydrated.

Fortunately, dehydration is easily treated and is very temporary. The skin just needs to rehydrate and vitamins given to be able to have healthy skin.

yogurtbread.jpgDo you know that eating food with vitamins gives you a healthy glowing skin?

Because of the global warming we’re experiencing these days, it is obvious that we are prone to viruses and bacterias which may led us into sickness. Furthermore, we’re also experiencing the dryness of our skin. This dryness of our skin is because of lack of water intake. I have discussed this to my mind within blog.

Another reason of the skin dryness is the lack of vitamins. Whatmilk-broc.jpg vitamins should I intake in order to have a healthy looking skin? What do these vitamins do to our body which makes our skin soft and healthy?

    • Vitamin A - helps repair body tissue, prevents skin dryness and postpones aging. So, try to add milk, cheese, eggs, butter, spinach, broccoli, carrot and fish oils to your diet. Vitamin A is fat soluble. This kind of fat gets stored in the liver and maybe harmful, so make sure you do not have it in excess.
    • Vitamin B improves circulation and skin color. It is water soluble, so it is safe to intake daily. It is found in yogurt, brown bread, wheatgerm, yeast, cereal and green leafy vegetables.fruits.jpg
    • Vitamin C helps maintain levels of collagen, a protein constituent of skin that is essential for healing the skin as well as keeping it smooth, firm and healthy-looking. Vitamin C is also a water soluble that is safe to take daily. Eat lots of citrus fruits, strawberries, black currants, potatoes, cabbage, broccoli and sprouts.

Eat healthy and have a beautiful healthy skin.

images.jpgAs we grow older, our skin get dry and produces cracklings and wrinkles. Is it natural? Yes it is! Because as our age added, our skin also ages. But there are some case where the aging of the skin is premature. Skin Premature aging is also called the Extrinsic Aging.

Dermatologist explained that Extrinsic aging is caused by sun exposure, repetitive facial expressions, gravity, sleeping positions, and smoking. Without protection from the sun’s rays, just a few minutes of exposure each day over the years can cause noticeable changes to the skin. Freckles, age spots, spider veins on the face, rough and leathery skin, fine wrinkles that disappear when stretched, loose skin, a blotchy complexion, actinic keratoses (thick wart-like, rough, reddish patches of skin), and skin cancer can all be traced to sun exposure.

How can we lessen the skin aging?basicf1.jpg

While you cannot stop or even slow down the intrinsic aging process, you can prevent signs of premature aging by protecting your skin from the sun, quitting smoking, and eliminating facial exercises.

Dermatologists recommend comprehensive sun protection to prevent premature aging caused by the sun. Comprehensive sun protection includes:

    • Avoiding deliberate tanning, including use of indoor tanning devices.

    • Staying out of the sun between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when the sun’s rays are the strongest.

    • Wearing protective clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat and long sleeves, when outdoors during the day.

    • Applying sunscreen year round. Sunscreen should be broad spectrum (offers UVA and UVB protection) and have a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 or higher. Sunscreen should be applied 20 minutes before going outdoors to all skin that will be exposed. It should be reapplied after sweating or being in water.
